Clean Age

From Idea to Testing in Three Months

We host cohorts on a regular basis. Innovative thinkers gather to pitch ideas, gather feedback from the group, and discuss the potential of turning those ideas into a business. Clean Age came from a cohort in Portland. The central question: Why aren’t there products made for kids aged 9-13 who are forming habits that will last a lifetime?

The rails were quickly laid down: We quickly built a brand, products and messaging for moms of 9-13-year-olds to test. All-natural. Gender-neutral. Fun.

A mere three months later we launched friends and family testing, gathered feedback from users, trademarked the name Clean Age and made a plan to improve the products, packaging and distribution systems. We move fast. Superfast.

“My boys love Clean Age! The Waves scent is the favorite by far - it works great all day and doesn’t leave any staining on their clothes. They also loved the free stickers included in the packaging.”

Amy, Mom of Four Boys
01 Explore

During our 2019 internal cohort, we explored an opportunity area: clean products for kids.

02 Ideate

Post-cohort we expanded the idea and focused in on a hero product: natural deodorant for kids.

03 Verify

With the brand and products in hand we tested them with a controlled group of consumers.

04 Optimize

New products and packaging based on what we’ve learned so far are in the works now.
